Effect of sewage sludge, urban compost and FYM on juice quality and soil nutrient status of sweet sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench)

A field experiment was conducted in Karnataka, India, during the 2003 kharif season to study the efficiency of farmyard manure (14.7 t FYM/ha), urban compost (11 t/ha), sewage sludge (5.3 t/ha) and their combination on juice quality and soil nutrient status of sweet sorghum SSV-74. The application of urban compost was significantly more in millable cane stalk yield (40.5 t/ha) and lower in quality parameters, i.e. brix (14.40 degrees ) and pol (11.14%).
