Factor interaction in Citrullus. Seed-coat color, fruit shape and markings show evidence of mendelian inheritance in watermelon crosses

In a cross between forms of Citrullus vulgaris with tan and red seed coats respectively, red behaved as a simple recessive, which it also did in a cross with a green-seeded form. It is therefore suggested that tan is produced by a single dominant factor T, green by a single dominant factor G, while red is the double recessive. The colour of the double dominant is not yet known.
