Results in the present survey are compared with those of a survey made in the same area during 1936 (Abst. 2286, Vol. 7). Although in some cases the position of individual families had improved, the general dietary situation in 1940 had deteriorated. The percentage of families reporting the most varied diets was consistently lower in 1940 and the. consumption of cheaper diets containing un balanced combinations of tubers and codfish, rice and beans, had increased.
