Inheritance of resistance to stem rust in crosses with Kenya varieties of Triticum vulgare Vill

Crosses were made involving 2 stem rust-resistant vars. of wheat from Kenya and 2 stem rust-susceptible Australian vars. Federation 107 and Dundee 985. In each resistant var. the same gene appeared to govern the resistance of seedlings to single races and of mature plants to a collection of races. The genes for rust resistance in the two vars. were not alleles, however, and were inherited independently in a cross between the 2 resistant parents.
