Pampas grass (Cortaderia selloana) as fodder. Recent investigations

As a supplementary fodder the feeding value of the dry matter of pampas grass appears to be greater than that of average quality hay. Advantages of the crop are that it does not require fertilizers and that it may be grown in stump country where ploughing is impossible and often soft fodder crops cannot be grown.
