Abstract
Crown rust of oats (Puccinia coronata avenae), though of considerable importance in Eastern Canada does not usually cause appreciable damage in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, except where oats are grown in proximity to buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica) hedges, although it was epidemic there in 1927, and is of minor importance in Alberta and British Columbia.
