The fungus [Ceratostomella paradoxa] is carried on the outside of cane stocks and the problem is one of preventing its entry into the cut ends when the cane is planted. Good control of this disease was obtained by treating the cut ends prior to planting with dry fungicidal powders, such as Ceresan, Agrosan and Thiosan.
