Some Notes on Cutaneous Myiasis in Animals in the Madras Presidency

Indian J. vet. Sci 6: 261-265

and P. obtained larvae from 404 cases of fly-blown sores in domesticated animals, including fowls, in various districts of the Madras Presidency. On examination 401 of these proved to be Chrysomyia bezziana and the other three Lucilia argyricephala. Subsequent experiments showed that the former parasite when present in wounds is purely obligatory, whereas the other breeds easily in dead meat.
