Studies in starch amylase viscosimetry. 1. A sensitive precision method for the estimation of amylolytic activity applicable to human serum

Studies in starch amylase viscosimetry. 1. A sensitive precision method for the estimation of amylolytic activity applicable to human serum

J. Biol. Chem 108: 85-104

A method of evaluating catalytic activity from digestion curves is given, automatic procedures being introduced. In determining amylase activity by a viscosimetric method, the authors have taken as a basis of comparison of digestion curves the time (w) in hours such that 7.5 per cent. decrease in viscosity occurs during the last three quarters of this digestion interval. A pantograph is used in evaluating w.
