Administration of Lugol solution to patients with Graves' disease led to an increase in total I due to an increase in the inorganic fraction. The organic moiety was generally unchanged or slightly reduced: an increase had an unfavourable significance. Di-iodotyrosine caused at first a reduction in both fractions: later there was an increase which was marked in the organic moiety.
