Studies on barley. II. Variability and inheritance of some physiological characters. The importance of breeding characters

Studies on barley. II. Variability and inheritance of some physiological characters. The importance of breeding characters

Mem. Inst. Polon. EC. Rur 11: 579-610

The plants used in these experiments were a two-rowed barley of the Hanna Proskowetz type (Hordeum c.a. distichum nutans Att.) and two six-rowed barleys (H. c.a. polystichum vulgare Att. and H. C. nigromtdum Att.). The most variable characters were yield and tillering, with coefficients of variability of 36.71 and 30.83 respectively. Much less variable were 1000 grain weight, length of ear, number of spikelets, length of awns and length of straw.
