Studies on the physiology of reproduction in birds. 28. Extirpation of thymus and bursa in pigeons with a consideration of the failure of thymectomy to reveal thymus function

The thymus and the bursa fabricii were removed in pigeons and they were subsequently reared to or beyond maturity. Body growth was unaffected; no significant differences were found in the testes, ovaries, thyroid, liver or spleen, and there was no difference in B.M.R. There was no effect on sexual maturity in females, on the production or on the type of eggs.
