The embryogeny of Pseudotsuga taxifolia (Lamb.) Britt

The embryogeny of Pseudotsuga taxifolia (Lamb.) Britt

Amer. J. Bot 30: 655-61

The development of the microspore and male gametophyte of Pseudotsuga follows closely that described for Pinus. The mature pollen grain is intermediate between Pinus and Abies with respect to division of the antheridial cell. The development of the female gametophyte up to fertilization has been described by Lawson (1909) and confirmed by the present study.
