Abstract
In continued investigations on the effectiveness of Indian plants reputed to have insecticidal properties, the essential oils from leaves of Ocimum basilicum and two varieties of O. sanctum were shown to have some toxicity for adults of Aedes aegypti, L., and Culex fatigans, Wied., though it was not comparable with that of pyrethrum. They were only slightly toxic to flies and not at all to cockroaches.
