The physiology of Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn. V. The activity of certain enzymes of Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn

Six morphologically similar strains were differentiated by their distinctive invertase activities: 3 from the wheat vars. Reward, Ceres, and a Durum, 1 from both asters and potatoes, and others from peas and ginseng. With peptone as the sole source of N in the nutrient medium, catalase, diastase, and invertase activities of culture filtrates were high. The degree of activity observed was not modified appreciably by the addition of either KNO3 or (NH4)O2SO4 to the peptone medium. In other media containing either gelatine, KNO3, (NH4)O2SO4, or urea as N sources, enzyme activity was low.
