A progress report on the investigation of a vascular disease of Manila hemp (Musa textilis Nee) resembling Panama disease of bananas. The disease is associated with bacteria and a fungus very similar to Fusarium oxysporum Schlt. f.3. Wr. (Fusarium cubense E. F. Smith). The predominance of the presence of bacteria over fungus in diseased tissues is very marked. A weevil, Odoiporus paganus Uichanco, is also found associated with diseased plants.
