A study of the creeping rooted habit in alfalfa

A study of the creeping rooted habit in alfalfa

Report of the meeting of the Western Forage Crops Committee of the Dominion Experimental Farms Service held in Swift Current, Sask., June llth, 12th and 13th 1951. 19-20

Although under field conditions the creeping-rooted habit is not expressed until plants are almost two years' old, a method is here described for identifying potentially creeping seedlings by the number of buds formed at lateral rootlet regions after 12 weeks' growth; selection can therefore be accelerated.
