N was applied in 4 different forms to first and second rice crops at levels of nil, 40, 80 and 120 kg. N per ha. in experiments at 10 different localities in Formosa. The best response in grain yields to unit applications of N at all levels was obtained by using ammonium sulfate, with the exception of the first crop at the 120 kg. N level which responded beat to ammonium chloride. The first crop yielded, on an average, 20 kg. per ha. more grain in response to the application of 1 kg. per ha.
