Breeding soya bean. I. Preliminary observations on the behaviour of some varieties of soya bean in Sao Paulo

Most of the varieties introduced into Brazil from the USA and elsewhere proved inferior to varieties already acclimatized, such as Abura which was however surpassed in yield by the commercial Brazilian varieties Nova Granada, Pereira Barreto and IA455. Two new varieties, Alianca and Alianca Preta proved promising, with yields of 3000 kg. per ha. Palmetto had the lowest nematode attack and CNS the lowest infection by Xanthomonas phaseoli.
