Changes occurring in spring wheat varieties when sown in late autumn.

Changes occurring in spring wheat varieties when sown in late autumn.

Agrobiologia (Agrobiology), 5, 8-16

The second and third generations of several spring wheats produced progenies showing intraspecific and interspecific changes when sown in the Rostov province in late autumn. The highest proportion of plants with changed heritable properties was obtained with the hard spring wheats Rostovskaja 25, from Melanopus 69 x Hordeiforme 432, and Rostovskaja 26, from Melanopus 69 x Affine 309. They mostly produced soft wheats of the erythrospermum, lutescens and ferrugineum types.
