Abstract
The uptake of O2 by barley seedlings in water cultures was increased by 10-4 mol DNP, and much reduced by 10-2 mol NaN3. The reduction of P uptake in similar amounts by 10-4 mol DNP and 10-2 mol NaN3 was attributed to the inhibition of oxidative phosphorylation. Reduction of P uptake by the roots was accompanied by P excretion.
