Abstract
Nine varieties of spring wheat were grown in a fertilizer rate experiment. The variety x fertilizer interaction for yield and culms was not significant. Grain from the middle of the spike was higher in protein content than that from the top of the spike and the lateral kernels in a spikelet had a higher protein content than did the central kernels.
