Estimation of serum protein in man and animals and its importance in veterinary medicine

Berliner und Münchener Tierärztliche Wochenschrift (3): 54-55

ISSN/ISBN: 0005-9366

Serum protein was estimated in about 60, 000 samples of human blood, mainly from the American sector of Berlin (Bonsmann et al, , Med. Klin., 1948, 4), by a sp. gr. method (Bonsmann, Deutsch. med. Wochenschr., 1947, 710). The mean value fell from 7.5 to 6.4 g. per cent. during the year 1946-47 and rose slowly in 1948 after rations were increased. Hb did not show this fall and rise. Until 1949 body weight showed an annual fall in late spring, most probably due to potato shortage at this season.
