Experiments an milking technique. 3. Combined effect of reducing the milking time and washing the udder with hot water. 4. Effect of increasing the milking time

J. Dairy Res 16(1): 14-22

Five groups of four cows received uniform treatment for 2 weeks during which the normal milking time and flow curve was determined. Thereafter four different treatments were applied within the groups for five weeks. Washing with water at 120 degrees F. was compared with the use of water at 60 degrees F., and restricting the time of milking to 60% of the normal compared with the previous normal time. The rate of milking was determined once a week by the method previously described..
