Further studies on nutritional requirements of the cotton rat, Sigmodon hispidus hispidus
Proceedings of the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine. Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine 68(3): 522-525
The inclusion in, or omission from, purified diets of biotin or pteroylglutamic acid had no effect on the growth rate of the cotton rat. The requirement for nicotinic acid decreased with increase in the tryptophan content of the diet. The reproductive performance on purified diets with or without biotin and pteroylglutamic acid was poor, but was improved by the addition of liver extract. P. J. Crowe.
