Serum Fe and Cu were estimated in 58 children suffering from acute, subacute and chronic infections of different types. In some, values were recorded also for the erythrocyte count and percentage Hb. In all, during the period of infection, there was a fall in serum Fe and a rise in serum Cu, but the extent of these changes depended on the nature of the disease. There were characteristic differences between the chronic infections of childhood.
