Abstract
The first part of the paper is a theoretical discussion on hay-silage and on methods of comparing nutritive values. Herbage was wilted and ensiled at about 50 per cent. moisture, with the addition of salt at 2 per cent. of the dry matter. After 6 months the silage was acceptable to cattle. The moisture content had fallen to 43.6 per cent.
