In a series of fresh silage samples, dry matter (at 105 degrees C.), the sum of the total acetic, butyric and formic acids and ammonia, all expressed as percentages,.and the percentages of volatile acids and ammonia in the dry matter were estimated. From the figures the correction factor for finding the corrected percentage dry matter was calculated.
