Molecular sedimentation in the ultraeentrifuge

Molecular sedimentation in the ultraeentrifuge

Endeavour, 6: 89-95

The ultraeentrifuge is useful in examining the homogeneity of proteins and for the determination of their molecular weights. In the veterinary field it has revealed that a serum protein, " fetuin ", of molecular weight 50, 000 is present in many fetal sera and in the sera of newly born animals and that, during the process of antibody production following immunization, an increase in gamma -globulin is often observed.
