Morphological and biometrical characteristics of the cones of P. omorika: quality of the seed.

Morphological and biometrical characteristics of the cones of P. omorika: quality of the seed.

Morfoloske i biometricke pojedinosti fruktifikacija Picea omorica Panc.: kvalitet semena, Institut za Naucna Istrazivanja u Sumarstvu NRS,Belgrade, Yugoslavia: 23

A detailed study of a sample of cones from the Tara district showed certain regular relationships between the different features. The cones varied in length from 2 to 6 cm. and in breadth from 1 to 2 cm. The wings and the seeds were largest towards the middle of the length of the cone. The seeds varied in dimensions between (length) 1.7 and 3.8; (breadth) 1.1 and 2.0; and thickness 0.5 and 1.4 mm.
