Observations on the value of sweet blue lupine seed meal as a feed for beef cattle, Univ. Florida Agric. Exp. Stat., 6
1950
Four pairs of comparable 18-month-old Hereford bullocks were fed on the same rations of carbohydrate concentrates and prairie hay. One of each pair was given a protein supplement of cottonseed meal and the other of sweet blue lupin seed meal, one part by weight to 4 parts of the carbohydrate concentrate. Consumption was controlled so that both members of a pair ate the same amount. Average daily gains were 2-52 lb. for cottonseed and 2.62 for lupin seed.
