Comparison was made, in 1952 and 1953, of rice plants grown in pots and kept in standing water (maximum temperature 29 degrees -35 degrees C., minimum about 26 degrees C.) with others transferred at different stages of growth to running water (maximum temperature from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 25 degrees C.-29 degrees C., minimum about 22 degrees C.).
