Abstract
The production of sweet lupins in Germany, Marquis wheat in Canada, cold-resistant sugar canes in the USA, substitutes for the vine and a sugar-producing flax in Russia, X-ray mutants of barley in Sweden and Spartina townsendii as a rice substitute in England are cited as achievements of applied genetics.
