Regional adaptability of strawberry varieties. I. Effects of different climatic conditions in fall and spring on the differentiation and development of flower-clusters and flower buds.

Plants raised at 360 m. were grown on at 360 m. and at 3 other elevations up to 1, 400 m. Cluster differentiation on main stem laterals took place after that on terminals. At 360 m. in the open differentiation continued until the advent of cold weather and the following spring clusters formed on the terminals of lateral buds of higher orders (2nd, 3rd, etc.), whereas in frames it continued throughout the winter and branches of higher orders (4th and even 5th) bore flower buds.
