Seasonal changes of soil moisture in a red-brown earth and a black earth in southern Australia

Seasonal changes of soil moisture in a red-brown earth and a black earth in southern Australia

Aust. J. Appl. Sci 4: 260-273

Under the prevailing climatic conditions described as Mediterranean, the red-brown earth dried out to pF 4.2 to a depth of about 6 ft, whilst black earth remained wetter below the 2-ft level and reached values of pF 2.5 at the end of the dry season. The seasonal changes of moisture corresponded with changes in moisture tension and were measurable to depths of 10 ft in red-brown earth.
