The working of the tropical shelterwood system is discussed in the light of data, obtained by the Cambridge Bot. Expedition to Nigeria, on silvical conditions in managed and in undisturbed forests. Chief features of the system and problems of regeneration are presented, with a structural description of the forest which shows the % of stand represented by each tree sp. in its 3 stories.
