Some observations on ovarian activity. Cornual pregnancy and sex ratio in the Indian buffalo (Bos bubalis)

Of 2705 uteri of buffaloes examined after slaughter, 306 were found to contain embryos; in 50. 7% of cases corpora lutea of pregnancy were found in the right ovary and in 49. 3%, in the left. In 1872 out of 2399 non-pregnant buffaloes there were functioning corpora lutea; 52. 9% ovulated from the right ovary and 47. 1% from the left. In the pregnant animals, 50. 3% embryos developed in the right uterine horn. The sex ratio of identifiable embryos (188) was 48. 4: 51. 6.
