Studies on the nutritional physiology of the Rice blast fungus (Piricularia oryzae) .
Ann. phytopath. Soc, Japan 17: 113-118
Pyrimidine and thiazole were shown to be essential for the growth in liquid culture of Piricularia oryzae , which synthesizes them into thiamine. The minimum requirement of biotin was about 0.004 micro gm. and of thiamine hydrochloride 0.2 micro gm. in 10 ml. culture solution. Sugars were better sources of carbon than the higher alcohols.
