Studies on the physiology of germination in pome fruits. IV. Investigations of varietal differences in the temperature requirements and frost resistance during germination of seeds of pome fruits as well as of phenomena connected with aging). Z

Pflanzenz 35: 179-98

Two sets of experiments are described. In the first the effect of storage on seeds of Lange Winterbirne was studied. It was found that the temperature required for optimum germination increased with the age of the seeds and, in the case of seeds that had been kept for five years, was occasionally as high as 10 degrees C.
