Abstract
Body and fleece weights of 1520 one-yr-old Mutton Merinos from 23 flocks in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt were recorded from 1950 to 1953 to investigate the possibility of increasing wool production from existing types. Flocks were grouped into 3 classes, wool type, mixed type and mutton type, and relative fleece weight was calculated from clean fleece weight upon 100 kg. body weight.
