The incidence of dental caries in caries-susceptible and caries-resistant albino rats (Rattus norvegicus) when fed diets containing granulated and powdered sucrose

The incidence of dental caries in caries-susceptible and caries-resistant albino rats (Rattus norvegicus) when fed diets containing granulated and powdered sucrose

Journal of Dental Research 32(2): 210-214

The hereditary difference in susceptibility to caries, demonstrated in strains of albino rats receiving a diet containing 66 per cent. ground rice, was also apparent with a diet containing 57 per cent. granulated sucrose and 10 per cent. fine rice. On this diet the mean caries time for 44 rats of caries-susceptible strain was 92.25 days, and for 50 rats of caries-resistant strain 367.75 days.
