The root diseases of cacao in Papua and New Guinea

Four important root diseases have been recorded on cacao in Papua and New Guinea, namely, white root disease (Fames lignosus), brown root disease (F. noxius), wet root disease (Ganoderma pseudoferreum) and collar rot or dry root disease (Ustulina deustd). A general account is given of their mode of distribution and action, and keys are provided for their identification and for distinguishing them from several related saprophytes.
