The use of DDT against Thaumetopoea pityocampa, the Pine processionary caterpillar.

The use of DDT against Thaumetopoea pityocampa, the Pine processionary caterpillar.

Boll. Staz. For. Trieste. 1, 27-79

Describes in detail research carried out in 1945-46 on the control of T. pityocampa. Observations were made of nests in large heated cases or greenhouses. The method of control recommended is the application to each nest, by means of the Furlani motor unit, of about 40 c.c. of a solution of DDT (5-7%) in naphtha, in February or March. An appendix describes successful field trials of this method.
