Urinary pantothenate, blood glucose, and inorganic serum phosphate in patients with metabolic disorders treated with doses of pantothenate

Pantothenate was estimated microbiologically in the urine of patients with diabetes mellitus, Addison's disease, cirrhosis of the liver and chromophobic tumour of the pituitary gland. On the normal hospital diet the urinary output of Ca pantothenate ranged from 2.6 to 8.6 mg. in 24 hr.; administration of Ca pantothenate or panthenol enormously increased the amount. Both sets of values were of the same order as those reported for normal subjects by Eubin et al. (Abst. 2442, Vol. 18).
