With chicks it was found that there is very close agreement between the calculated and the determined metabolizable energy values obtained by actual combustion in a bomb calorimeter. The accuracy of calculated metabolizable energy values is dependent upon the reliability of the digestibility data of the individual ingredients used in the diet.
