Formulae are derived by means of which, on the basis of the chi 2 method, the minimum number of progeny individuals necessary for distinguishing between the different segregation ratios, e.g. the ratios 9: 3: 4 and 10: 3: 3, obtained in crosses involving two or more interacting or independent gene pairs, may be calculated.
