The 1st paper notes that of the 3 fumigants tested in Brazil the best was VPM (Na methyldithiocarbamate); the 2nd that chickens were superior to guineapigs in producing antibodies against the bacterium in tests to obtain a serum. The 3rd paper shows that any pH <4.5 was generally lethal to the bacterium; if not, the discrepancy is ascribed to the technique, a difference in the substrate, or the presence of a resistant str.
