Rice plants grown in air containing a high (0.1%) concentration of CO2 were compared with plants grown under natural conditions. The former were shorter, produced more tillers, had a higher content of dry matter, starch, sugar, total carbohydrate and total N and K; they produced more panicles per plant and spikelets per panicle and had a higher percentage of grain ripened; therefore, they had a higher yield of grain and straw.
