Carrot-willow aphid

Carrot-willow aphid

13th Rep. nat. Veg. Res. Sta. Wellesbourne, Warwick, 52-55

Studies on the seasonal occurrence, abundance and control of Cavariella aegopodii (Scop.) were continued in central and eastern England in 1961-62. Few eggs were laid on willow during the autumn and early winter of 1961, and only a few small colonies were present on the trees in the following April-June. Aphids successfully overwintered on the foliage of unlifted carrots despite prolonged cold periods during which the minimum temperature reached 3 degrees F.
