Chromosome studies on Brassica in our country. II. Chromosome numbers and caryotypes of cultivated species.

Chromosome studies on Brassica in our country. II. Chromosome numbers and caryotypes of cultivated species.

Nihon Diagaku Nojuigakubu Gakujutsu Kenkyu Hokoku/Bull. Coll. Agric. Vet. Sci. Nihon Univ, 5, 21-34

Caryotypes have been determined for selected varieties of B. napus (2n = 38), B. cernua (36), B. chinensis (20), B. parachinensis (20), B. rapa (20) and B. alboglabra (18). The caryotype of B. napus indicates its hybrid origin from B. oleracea x B. chinensis. Japanese varieties of this species had larger chromosomes than European introductions. B. cernua differed markedly from the other species in chromosome morphology.
